Two-apps along with the online Nomination filing will be continued in future: CEC
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said that the system of filing nomination papers online, which was first started in the 12th National Assembly elections, will continue in the future.
Addressing the nation on Saturday (January 6) on the occasion of the 12th National Assembly Elections, CEC said that the Commission has recently launched two digital apps for the collection and monitoring of polling related information for the people through smartphones.
In addition to this initiative to make the election process transparent through visibility, Habibul Awal's speech also highlighted the importance of the role of the media and election observers. At the same time, he urged everyone to come to the center by overcoming all kinds of anxiety, apprehension and discomfort.
He said, “We are concerned about some recent incidents of vandalism and violence. Still, as part of the inviolable constitutional duty, I request the people to overcome all worries, anxieties and discomforts and fearlessly come to the polling stations in a joyful atmosphere and freely exercise your precious right to vote and perform your precious civic duty.”
The CEC also said that the candidature of any candidate will be canceled immediately if there is evidence of fake vote or rigging in the election. He said that fake votes, ballot rigging, illegal money transaction and possible use of muscle power on behalf of a candidate or candidates will be strictly countered. The candidature will be canceled immediately if evidence is found. If necessary, polling of centers or constituencies will be stopped altogether.
CEC urged the people to unite and resist all kinds of electoral irregularities and injustice.
